** Asterix turns 50! I remember first reading Asterix as a kid. The Romans all spoke in Latin phrases that have made it to the modern day, but didn’t actually make sense in the context of the strip. Maybe one guy would say, “In vino veritas” and the other would reply, “semper fidelis, sic, id est.” At least, that’s how I remember it. It was my first introduction to Latin.
